Christmas with In-Laws

Christmas evening we had dinner with my In-Laws. (For the record, my Mom-in-Law went to school for fashion merchandising, so she is big into fashion like I am!) It's definitely fun to dress up, even if only for her to see! I went a bit casual for this one, but honestly, I've gained so much weight lately that none of my dress pants fit....and I had worn a pair earlier that day and couldn't stand to stuff myself into them again!

Shirt: $0 Hand-Me-Down from Sis
Jeans: $0 Hand-Me-Down from Sis
Shoes: $22 (sale) Payless
Total: $22!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve (rather than Christmas Day,) is our big celebration day in my family. We do church (which is and always has been a major part of our celebrating, Christmas isn't complete for us without church service!) then big dinner at my house, then a gift exchange. You all know I love getting all dolled up, this was my choice for Christmas Eve! I had originally planned on a black sweater, but I loved the way the cranberry sweater looked!

Sweater: $4 Goodwill
Skirt: $0 Hand-Me-Down from Sister.
Tights: $8 Boston Store
Boots: $16 (sale) UrbanOg
Total: $28

Last Year's Christmas Outfit...

This was the outfit I wore last year for Christmas. (The greens seem pretty clashy in the pic, but that is just from the flash. In person, the greens of the tights with the dress go nicely.) Very comfortable dress and tights!

Dress: $15 (sale) Body Central
Tights: $11 Boston Store
Boots: $20 UrbanOg
Total: $46

Casual Outfits

None of these are worth their own post, so I shall just lump them into one, ha!

Shirt: $4 GoodWill
Jeans: $0 Hand-Me-Down from Sis
Shoes: $15 (now $20) KMart, few years ago.
Total: $19...not bad!

I maintain that the horizontal stripes on this shirt make me look wider.

Hat: $20 (Well, $0 for me, I had a gift card) Oh La La, accessory store in West Bend and Menomonee Falls.
Sweater: $0 Hand-Me-Down from Sis
Jeans: $35 Alloy
Shoes: $15 (now $20) KMart, few years ago.
Total: $70

The blazer is a knit jersey material, so it's comfy like a hoodie!

Blazer: $15 (sale) Body Central
Tank Top: $5 WalMart
Jeans: $15 WalMart
Boots: $120 Victoria's Secret, buuuuut comparable boots can be found at UrbanOg for $35.
Total: $70

Ok, so this isn't an outfit. But...it's cute! I always wear my hair different ways. Wore it to work like this, took about 5 minutes to do.

Comfy Blazer

I had a very rough night health-wise on Saturday night. When Sunday rolled around, I ditched my cute, planned, church outfit for something comfy. Comfortable does not have to mean shabby. How cute is this for my "I just feel like being comfy instead of cute" outfit?!

Blazer: $9 (clearance) WalMart (It's a jersey blazer, so it feels like a hoody.)
Blouse: $7 (clearance) WalMart
Pants: $25 Alloy (sale)
Shoes: $15 Charlotte Russe
Total: $56

This was my hairstyle for the day. Took about 5 minutes, but looks cute and pulled-together.

Kids!

As much as I am into fashion, I am into it just as much for the kiddos in my life (step-daughter and niece.) I love dressing them up and doing their hair!  (Though I don't buy nearly as much stuff from GoodWill for them....)

I must admit, this outfit was more expensive than I like to spend on kids clothes, but it was totally worth it! Beyond adorable! (Was about $20 for the set. Not ridiculously overpriced, but still a lot for a 4T dress! Got it at Shopko on sale.)

(Looking at these older pictures gets me all teary-eyed. She may not be biologically mine, but I love this girl to pieces!) Anyways, back to fashion. The top is a Green Bay Packers onesie from WalMart. The tights are  from Wally as well. The shoes are a black, pink, white tweed. Cutest shoes on the planet, eh? Got them from GoodWill for about $4! The skirt is also a Goodwill find for $2!
Emma sees me (and her mama) wearing boots, a lot. Monkey see, monkey do, right? It's only fair that I get her some of her own boots! She's got black and brown. Both pairs from WalMart for about $15. (Though the brown pair I got on end of season clearance for $9.) The skirt is GoodWill....everything else is WalMart!

Ha! What a little diva! Ok, she didn't legitimately wear the hat. That is mine and she was just playing with it. The pants are GoodWill and the cardigan and onesie are WalMart.

This girl loves the camera! (And the camera loves her!) The white shirt and skirt are WalMart. The rock star shirt I got for $1 at end of season clearance at WalMart. ($1.00!!!!!!) Skirt is GoodWill. Shoes are WalMart.
This was her Christmas outfit from 2011. To die for!!!!!! What a doll, eh? I do spend a bit more on the Christmas outfits. This was on sale for about $30 at Boston Store.

Ok, hair isn't necessarily part of "fashion", but in my world it is! I can't stand not doing my hair...or wearing it the same all the time! Same for the girls! (Left two are Emma, right is Maddie. Notice the same tweed shoes on Maddie. She gets all of Emma's hand-me-downs. The pink/black plaid dress is from GoodWill.)

Ruffles and Corset

I loved this outfit! I was obsessed with the contrast that was created by the juxtaposition of the ruffley blouse and the edgy corset. And it should come as no surprise that I love my yellow skinnies! What do you think about the tops?

Blouse: $10 (?) some store at the mall (that has no website and I can't think of the name... )
Corset: $0 Hand-Me-Down from Sister!
Jeans: $20 (sale) Charlotte Russe (yellow no longer available.)
Boots : $20 UrbanOg
Total: $50

Thigh High Leather Boots

As I was thinking about going out to see my sweety's band, all I knew was that I wanted to wear the boots. I went through a lot of outfit changes until I came to this one, haha! There are people who think that thigh high boots are slutty, but really, other than what the tank top is baring, I'm fully covered!

Tank Top: $6 (about a decade ago at WalMart)
Skirt: $0 (also about a decade ago, for my birthday from the clothing store Rave.)
Tights: $7.50 (on sale) from a store at Mall of America....can't think of the name...)
Boots: $36 UrbanOg
Total: Under $50

As I've mentioned once or twice, sometimes I just like to funky-up my hair!

I was happy as a clam when I put my coat on and it looked so stellar with my boots! (Though I will not post the price of that coat...yikes! Major splurge a few years ago... It's genuine leather Kenneth Cole.)

Thanksgiving

We had two different dinners to attend for Thanksgiving. I wanted something comfy but still put together- looking. I have a great love of maxi-skirts, so I just threw a nice sweater with it!

Sweater: $11 WalMart
Skirt: $15 (?) No clue...my best guess would be Urban Behavior several years ago.
Boots: $120 Victoria's Secret (Major splurge for me! Comparable Boots can be found at UrbanOg for around $30.)

I also have a problem understanding how people can tolerate wearing their hair the same (or almost the same) every day! That would drive me bonkers! I wear my hair a lot of different ways. Thanksgiving Day I chose pigtail reverse french braids into a messy coiled bun!

Polyvore

In addition to thinking up all my different outfits, I also spend a large amount of time on Polyvore.  I have close to 460 outfits designed by yours truly on the site. I love it!!

I create outfits I'd just like to wear....

I create outfits that I know I'll never get to wear, but a girl can dream....!

I create outfits that I plan to wear, just to see if they work out.....(Recognize this one?)

I create sets to show the versatility of a piece....

...And I create sets to show how to break up an outfit and use the different pieces.

If you are on Polyvore, feel free to Follow Me!
Or hey, give it a try for yourself!

Boring Day in the Fashion World of Erin

Well folks, not a whole lot to say about this... It was just plain. Cute, but plain. (And, ultimately, that's fine! Still better than giving up and putting on sweats!)

Sweater : $10 WalMart
Skirt: $4 GoodWill
Boots:: $25 Alloy
Total: $39

Olive Denim Vest

I loved this outfit. I didn't want to take it off! Plus, it was one of those outfits that went straight from my brain to my body without any alterations. (My hunny asked how long it would take me to get ready (I was still in my jammies...) and I told him 14 minutes. He didn't believe me. But, I did it! Outfit, hair, make-up..... under 15 minutes!

Shirt: $0 Hand-Me-Down from Sister
Vest: $0 Vintage...stolen from mom's closet! (Don't worry, she hadn't worn it in years.)
Jeans : $18 WalMart
Boots : $25 (clearance) Alloy
Total: $43

Erin's Closet

By request...a peek inside my closet!

I have a LOT of clothes....and accessories. (But, in my defense, I wear all of it!) I use practically every square inch of my closet; floors, racks, shelves, wall, even hooks on the door!

Aside from the closet, I have three dressers in the bedroom. Aside from the shoe racks in the closet, I have a large drawer in an antique buffet where I keep my boots, and a rack in the front hall closet for more shoes. (But like I said, I may have over 60 pairs of shoes, but I do wear all of them!)
I don't have enough wall space for all my hats, so I have to rotate them seasonally.  I could really use more space for betls, but.... I'm out of wall!
My poor sweety has only about 3 feet of rack space, the shelf above, and a few drawers in the dresser. (Starting at the blue spotted scrub top and to the left is his stuff....mine takes up all the rest. He is very patient with my needs!)

Casual Comfort

By now you know two things about me. I love hats.... and I don't believe you have to sacrifice fashion for comfort.  This outfit was every bit as comfy as a hoodie and sweatpants, but looks so much cuter!

Shirt : $6 WalMart
Sweater: $0 Hand-me-down from sister.
Hat: $3 (clearance!!!!) Shopko
Jeans: $20 (sale) Alloy
Shoes: $15 Charlotte Russe
Total: $44

(I had been looking for some cute Oxford heels for a LONG time. I'd found a pair on Victoria's Secret that I loved, but didn't want to shell out $90 for them. One day shopping, I saw these gems at Charlotte Russe. Gorgeous, eh? Got them in a BOGO sale for around $15. Patience paid off!)

Tuxedo Nails

I don't paint my nails...like, ever. (Let me specify, I don't paint my finger nails hardly ever, but my toenails are always painted in french pedi.) Every once in a while I will do fake nails for special occasions. The occasion this time was that I saw tuxedo nails and fell in love! Gave them a whirl, and for a first try, not bad, eh?

Red Skinnies....for church!

This is a far from flattering picture, but the outfit did look cute! Just some basic pieces thrown in with red skinnies. So easy!

Jacket: $0 Hand-me-down from sister
Shirt: $12 WalMart (link is to similar blouse, not eaxct.)
Jeans: $16 WalMart
Shoes: $18 Shoe Carnival (many years ago)

(I love these shoes... I will be heartbroken when they become unwearable.)

Last Minute Change

I didn't love this outfit, but I certainly didn't hate it. I changed a few times before I got to this one. But, as we walked out to the car, and Josiah got in and started it.... I bolted back in the house to change again!

(Thankfully, he is a very patient man, lol. All he does is nods knowingly, haha.)

So I ended up wearing a very laidback outfit and casual shoes.... with which my make-up did NOT look good. *sigh* Not all outfits can be winners.

Shirt: $12 ...somewhere in Mall of America...?
Jeans :$20 (sale) Boston Store
Shoes: $12 UrbanOg (sale)
Total: $44

Decisions Decisions....

Today I decided to let you into my process of finding something to wear. Sometimes I change more than this, sometimes less. But here is an outfit decision evolution.

This was the original outfit idea in my head. Something about this just seemed off. Proportions of the skirt, perhaps. Not sure, just didn't like it.

This just seemed sloppy....

Possibly might have looked cute without the flutter sleeve detail on the sweater.

I don't know....too much black?

Sweater: $4 GoodWill
Belt: $0 Included with jacket purchased at Kohls
Pants: $20 Alloy
Shoes: $15 (sale) Charlotte Russe
Total: $39
